JASP stands for Jeffreys’ Amazing Statistics Program, a nod to the Bayesian statistician, Sir Harold Jeffreys. It is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and there is even a cloud version. One of JASP’s key features is its emphasis on Bayesian analysis. Most statistics software emphasizes a more traditional frequentist approach; JASP offers both.

JASP is installed by downloading and double clicking the.dmg file, and dragging the JASP icon to the Applications folder. This places JASP in your applications folder. It might warn you that it “is a file downloaded from the internet” and it is right, but you can just click through that and everything should work fine.
